Question 1

What is MakeCanvas?

Accepted Answer

MakeCanvas is the fastest way to create looping Spotify Canvas videos for your tracks. Upload a photo or short video, apply filters and motion effects, and export a perfectly-formatted 9:16 vertical loop ready to upload to Spotify for Artists. No footage? Use AI Canvas to create a brand new video from your Spotify link, MP3 or cover image. See the AI Canvas section below for a full step-by-step guide.

Question 2

Create your first canvas

Accepted Answer

Pick a source: upload an image or video, or search free Pexels stock. Adjust the framing and crop to taste. (Optional) Add a filter, motion effect, or audio. Click Generate — your canvas is rendered server-side and downloaded automatically. Upload the file to Spotify for Artists and assign it to a track.

Question 3

System requirements

Accepted Answer

MakeCanvas runs in any modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari). For best results we recommend a recent version of Chrome or Edge on a desktop. The Desktop App (macOS) is also available for users who prefer a native experience with local FFmpeg processing.

Question 4

Supported file formats

Accepted Answer

Images: PNG, JPG, WebP. Videos: MP4, MOV, WebM (and most other common video formats). We recommend a vertical 9:16 source for best framing, but any aspect ratio works — we'll let you crop and reposition before exporting.

Question 5

File size limits

Accepted Answer

The upload limit depends on your plan and is shown directly in the upload area. If your file is larger than the limit, use the built-in Video Trimmer to shorten it, or compress it before uploading.

Question 6

Tips for the best quality

Accepted Answer

• Start with the highest-resolution source you have — at least 720×1280 vertical. • Avoid heavily-compressed re-shares from social media; they introduce visible artifacts. • Bright, simple compositions read better at small sizes inside the Spotify mobile player. • Keep important focal points centered — the Spotify player crops slightly on some devices.

Question 7

Searching the Pexels library

Accepted Answer

Switch to the Pexels tab in the source picker, type a keyword (e.g. "sunset", "abstract", "nature"), and click any result to load it. You can browse both photos and videos. The selection is licensed for personal and commercial use under the Pexels license.

Question 8

License and attribution

Accepted Answer

Pexels content is free for personal and commercial use, no attribution required. You may not sell unaltered copies of Pexels media. Full details: https://www.pexels.com/license/

Question 9

What the trimmer does

Accepted Answer

Spotify Canvas videos must be between 3 and 8 seconds long. The MakeCanvas Trimmer lets you load any video and drag the start/end handles to pick the exact slice you want, with a live preview as you scrub. Trimming runs locally in your browser via WebAssembly FFmpeg — no upload required.

Question 10

How to trim a video

Accepted Answer

Open /trimmer or click "Trim a video" inside the editor. Upload your source video. Drag the start and end handles on the timeline. The selection length is shown in seconds. Use the preview to verify the loop point — a clean, repeatable motion looks best. Click Use in Canvas to send the trimmed clip directly into the canvas editor.

Question 11

Tips for a clean loop

Accepted Answer

• Pick a slice where the first and last frames are visually similar — the canvas plays on repeat. • Avoid hard cuts and sudden lighting changes near the edges of your selection. • 4–6 seconds is the sweet spot for most tracks. • Subtle, continuous motion (water, smoke, slow zoom) loops most seamlessly.

Question 12

Applying a filter

Accepted Answer

Available filters are None, Noir, Vintage, Vivid, Cyber, Dream, Film Grain, Vignette, Chromatic, Neon Edge, Thermal, and Retro. Click any filter chip to preview it instantly on your canvas, and adjust the intensity slider to dial it in. Free includes Noir; the rest unlock with Pro or with a credit pack.

Question 13

Pro effects

Accepted Answer

Pro adds motion and stylistic effects on top of filters: Ken Burns (slow zoom/pan), Fade In/Out, Rotation, Speed Control, and Cross Fade. They turn a static photo or a short clip into a living canvas, and they can be combined with a color filter.

Question 14

Try everything before exporting

Accepted Answer

All filters and effects are unlocked for everyone to try, including visitors who haven't signed up. The Pro/credit gate only kicks in at the Generate step, so you can preview any look freely and only upgrade when you decide to export it.

Question 15

The export flow

Accepted Answer

When you click Generate, your media and settings are sent to our processing server, which runs an FFmpeg render at the resolution Spotify expects for Canvas. You'll see a live progress bar; the finished MP4 downloads automatically when ready.

Question 16

Output file spec

Accepted Answer

• Container: MP4 • Resolution: 1080 × 1920 (vertical 9:16, HD on Pro) • Duration: up to 8 seconds (Spotify accepts 3–8 seconds for Canvas) • Audio: none (Spotify Canvas is silent by design)

Question 17

Uploading to Spotify for Artists

Accepted Answer

Go to https://artists.spotify.com and sign in. Open the track you want a canvas for. Click Edit → Add Canvas and upload the MP4 you exported. Save. The canvas appears in the Spotify mobile player within a few hours. You can replace your canvas at any time from the same screen.

Question 18

How history works

Accepted Answer

Pro users get automatic cloud history. Every canvas you export is stored to our private R2 bucket and listed in the History tab inside the Studio. From there you can re-download the file or re-open the project to tweak and re-export.

Question 19

Retention

Accepted Answer

History entries are retained as long as your Pro subscription is active. If you cancel Pro, stored content is kept for 30 days, then permanently deleted. We recommend keeping local copies of important exports.

Question 20

Deleting an entry

Accepted Answer

Open the History tab and click the trash icon on any entry to remove both the database record and the underlying file from cloud storage. Deletions are immediate and not recoverable.

Question 21

Saving a preset

Accepted Answer

Once you've dialed in a look you like, open the Presets panel and click Save current as preset. Give it a name and (optionally) a thumbnail. The preset captures your filter, effects, and any custom tweaks.

Question 22

Applying a preset

Accepted Answer

In the Presets panel, click any saved preset to apply it instantly to your current canvas. The original source media is preserved — only the styling is replaced.

Question 23

Plan overview

Accepted Answer

Free — 3 canvas exports per month, basic filters (None + Noir), no cloud storage. Pro ($6/month or $48/year) — unlimited exports, all 12 filters, all motion effects, cloud history, saved presets, priority HD processing, and 1 AI Canvas credit as a welcome gift. Pro Plus ($12/month or $96/year) — everything in Pro, plus 10 AI Canvas credits every month that roll over while subscribed. Buy additional AI credit packs anytime.

Question 24

The 3-day Pro trial

Accepted Answer

New users automatically receive a 3-day Pro trial with full access to all Pro features, including 1 AI Canvas credit as a welcome gift. During the trial you can export up to 5 canvases per day. The trial is one per person — abuse via duplicate signups (same IP, device, or email aliases) results in permanent suspension under our Terms of Use.

Question 25

Export credits (canvas exports)

Accepted Answer

Export credits control how many canvases you can generate and download: • Free: 3 exports per month, refilled on the 1st. • Trial Pro: 5 exports per day (resets at 00:00 UTC), full feature access. • Paid Pro / Pro Plus: unlimited exports. • Export credit packs: one-time purchase that unlocks Pro editor features per credit. Once credits run out, you're back on the Free experience. Export credit packs do not include cloud history, presets, or affiliate access.

Question 26

AI credits (AI Canvas)

Accepted Answer

AI credits are separate from export credits and are used exclusively for AI Canvas video generation. Each AI Canvas generation costs 1 AI credit. How to get AI credits: • Welcome gift — Every Pro and Pro Plus user (including trial users) receives 1 AI credit for free when they first use AI Canvas. • Pro Plus subscription: Pro Plus users receive 10 AI credits every month (members who joined before October 2026 keep their 20). Unused monthly credits roll over as long as you stay subscribed. If you cancel, monthly credits are wiped. • AI credit packs: buy packs of 10 credits ($9), 25 credits ($22) or 50 credits ($39) anytime, on any plan (including Free). Purchased credits never expire, even if you downgrade or cancel. Important: Monthly AI credits (from Pro Plus) and purchased AI credits are tracked separately. If you cancel Pro Plus, only the monthly credits are removed. Purchased pack credits are always kept. Failed or cancelled generations return the credit to your account automatically. Payments for AI credits are not refunded in money.

Question 27

Upgrading to Pro or Pro Plus

Accepted Answer

Click any Upgrade button or visit Pricing. Payment is handled by Stripe; your card is never stored on our servers. You'll be back inside the editor with your new plan active seconds after checkout. You can upgrade from Free → Pro, Free → Pro Plus, or Pro → Pro Plus at any time. Downgrading from Pro Plus to Pro will remove your monthly AI credits, but purchased AI credit packs are always preserved.

Question 28

Managing your account

Accepted Answer

Click your avatar (top right) and choose Account Settings to update your name, email, and password. Email and password changes are handled via a secure Clerk-hosted dialog.

Question 29

Canceling Pro or Pro Plus

Accepted Answer

Open Account Settings → Billing & Plan, then click Cancel subscription. You keep full access until the end of your current billing period. After that you'll automatically move to the Free plan; your cloud history stays accessible for 30 days before being deleted. If you cancel Pro Plus, your monthly AI credits are removed, but any purchased AI credit packs are always kept.

Question 30

Refunds

Accepted Answer

All purchases are final and non-refundable except at our discretion. If your account is suspended within the first 14 days of a billing cycle, a partial refund of that period may be issued. Credit packs are non-refundable in all cases. See the Terms of Use for full detail.

Question 31

Deleting your account

Accepted Answer

To permanently delete your account and all associated data, email info@makecanvas.me from the address on file. We process deletion requests within 30 days; cloud history and exports are removed immediately on confirmation.

Question 32

How the program works

Accepted Answer

Join the MakeCanvas affiliate program for free, get a unique referral link, and earn recurring commissions on every Pro subscription that signs up through your link — for as long as the customer stays subscribed. Referrals are tracked with a 30-day cookie, so you still get credit if someone clicks your link and signs up later. Visit our Promote page for full details and the signup form.

Question 33

Already a Pro user? Refer & earn from your account

Accepted Answer

If you're already signed in as a Pro user, you don't need to leave the app — open Studio → Referrals and your unique referral link is generated for you right there, alongside a built-in dashboard for clicks, conversions, and commissions. Copy the link from the Referrals tab and share it with your audience.

Question 34

Not a Pro user yet? Sign up directly

Accepted Answer

Open the Promote page and click Become an Affiliate. You'll be taken to our affiliate platform (Affonso) to create a free partner account. Once approved, your dashboard gives you your unique referral link plus real-time stats on clicks, conversions, and commissions. Share the link anywhere you'd talk to artists, producers, or labels — social media, YouTube, blog posts, newsletters.

Question 35

Tracking & payouts

Accepted Answer

Your affiliate dashboard tracks clicks, signups, conversions, and commissions in real time. Payouts and minimum thresholds are managed inside the affiliate platform — log in to your partner dashboard to see the current schedule and update payout details. For program-specific questions, email info@makecanvas.me.

Question 36

Why the desktop app?

Accepted Answer

The desktop app loads the same MakeCanvas experience but runs FFmpeg locally on your machine instead of our cloud server. That means faster exports for large files, no upload step, and the ability to work without an internet connection (after sign-in). Available for both macOS and Windows.

Question 37

Installing

Accepted Answer

Download the latest version from the MakeCanvas homepage. macOS: Open the DMG and drag the app to /Applications. The app is signed and notarized by Apple. Windows: Run the installer and follow the prompts.

Question 38

What is AI Canvas?

Accepted Answer

AI Canvas creates a brand new 8-second video for your song, from scratch. You don't need any footage of your own. Give it your song (a Spotify link or an MP3) or a cover image, pick how you want it to move, and the AI makes a canvas that matches the feel of your music, ready to upload to Spotify. You'll find it in the editor as the AI Canvas tab, next to Upload, Stock Videos and Stock Photos. What it costs: analyzing your song is free. You only use 1 AI credit when you click Generate. Every signed-in user can use AI Canvas, on any plan, as long as they have AI credits. See How many credits does it cost? below.

Question 39

Before you start: sign in and accept the terms

Accepted Answer

AI Canvas needs a signed-in account. Open the AI Canvas tab in the editor. The first time, you'll see AI Canvas Terms of Use. Click Review Terms of Use. If you're not signed in, the sign-up window opens first (you can sign in from there too). After that you're brought back to the AI Canvas tab. Click Review Terms of Use again. Scroll to the bottom of the terms to enable I Accept, then click it. You only do this once. If you're signed out and click Analyze Song or Continue, the sign-up window opens instead of an error. A Spotify link you pasted is kept, so after signing in just click Analyze Song again.

Question 40

The three ways to start: Spotify URL, Upload Audio, Cover Image

Accepted Answer

At the top of AI Canvas there are three tabs. Pick the one that fits what you have: • Spotify URL: paste a link to your song on Spotify. The AI listens to the song and uses your cover art. This is the fastest way to start. • Upload Audio: upload your song as an MP3. Use this for songs that aren't on Spotify yet, or when the Spotify link can't be found. • Cover Image: upload an image (for example your cover art) and the AI brings it to life. There's no song analysis in this mode. The motion style you choose directs the video. All three tabs are open to every signed-in user and follow the same rules: the same style slider, the same credit cost and the same result.

Question 41

Using a Spotify URL

Accepted Answer

Choose the Spotify URL tab. In Spotify, open your song, click Share, then Copy Song Link. Paste it into the box. It should look like https://open.spotify.com/track/... Click Analyze Song. It must be a link to a single song. If you paste another kind of link, you'll see a hint telling you what to do: • An album link: open the album, click a single song, then Share, Copy Song Link. • A playlist link: pick one song, then Share, Copy Song Link. • An artist link: open a song, then Share, Copy Song Link. The Analyze Song button stays grey until the link is a valid song link. Song can't be found or analyzed? Brand-new releases are sometimes not in the music catalogs yet. Switch to the Upload Audio tab and upload the MP3 instead. Everything else works the same.

Question 42

Using Upload Audio (MP3)

Accepted Answer

Choose the Upload Audio tab. Drop your file onto the box, or click it to browse. Click Analyze Song. File rules: • MP3 only. Other formats (WAV, FLAC, M4A and so on) are not accepted. Convert your song to MP3 first. • Maximum 50 MB. The AI listens to a 30-second section from the middle of your song, which is usually the most representative part. In this mode the video is created purely from the music, so there is no cover art step.

Question 43

Using Cover Image

Accepted Answer

Choose the Cover Image tab. Drop an image onto the box, or click it to browse. JPG, PNG and WebP are supported. Click or drop again to replace it. Click Continue. Your image is used as the starting frame of the video, and the AI animates it. Because there's no song in this mode, the style you pick on the slider decides how it moves. Tip: images with faces or people may be blocked by the AI video model's safety filter. Artwork, landscapes, objects and abstract images work best.

Question 44

What happens while your song is analyzed

Accepted Answer

After you click Analyze Song you'll see a progress bar with a live waveform. Analysis can take up to a minute or two, and it's free. You can click Cancel (or press Esc) to stop it and go back. Here's what the AI does: Gets a sample of your song. For a Spotify link, we look for a 30-second preview of the track in public music catalogs. For an uploaded MP3, we take 30 seconds from the middle. Listens to it. Google Gemini analyzes the sample like a creative director would: genre, tempo, instruments, vocals, mood, energy and how the feeling changes. If no preview of a Spotify song is available, the AI works from your cover art and song details instead. Looks at your cover art (Spotify link only), including its colors and composition. Writes ideas. From all of this it creates several visual ideas for your canvas and marks the one that fits best. You then land on the simple style screen with the best idea already chosen. If the connection drops, AI Canvas retries on its own for a few seconds. If it still can't connect, you'll see a message asking you to check your connection and try again.

Question 45

The simple screen: "How should your canvas move?"

Accepted Answer

This is the main screen of AI Canvas: How should your canvas move? At the top you'll see your song (or "Your image") with a Song analyzed or Image ready badge, plus the genre and mood the AI detected. The slider has four stops. Click a dot or a name to choose: • Calm: slow, clean movement. Elegant and simple. (Slow drift, clean light, no effects.) • Cinematic: looks like a real film. Natural light, gentle camera push. (Camera push-in, film grain, light flares.) This is the default. • Dreamy: soft glow and floating particles. Hypnotic. (Soft glow, floating particles, color shifts.) • Intense: bold color, fast camera, high energy. (Beat pulses, bold color, flashes.) Below the slider you see the name, a short description and the main traits of the selected style. The AI creates a brand new video for your song or image in that style. Animate my cover (Spotify links with cover art): we grab your song's cover art and show it below the slider. It's on by default, so the AI brings your artwork to life. Turn it off to get a fully new scene. When you're happy, click Generate my canvas · 1 credit. Below the button: • Advanced: pick a different idea or edit the prompt opens the idea list and prompt editor (see the next section). • Start over goes back to the beginning.

Question 46

Advanced mode: pick a different idea or edit the prompt

Accepted Answer

Simple mode is enough for most people. If you want more control, click the Advanced link under the Generate button. Step 2: Pick a style for your canvas (songs only) • You'll see a summary of the analysis and a list of ideas, each with a title, a short description, style tags, a % match score and a star rating. • The idea marked Best Match is the one simple mode would use. • Click an idea to select it, then click Continue to Step 3: Review & Generate. Step 3: Review & Generate • Video Generation Prompt: the full description the AI video model will follow. You can edit it freely, for example "add rain" or "make it black and white". • Cover Art & Style (not shown for Upload Audio): tick Use cover art as master image for entire video to build the video around an image. You can drop or browse for an image, or paste an image URL. Click Remove to clear it. Then choose an Animation Preset: Raw Cinema, Lucid Dream, Pulse or Still Life. These are the same four styles as the slider (Cinematic, Dreamy, Intense and Calm). • Without cover art (and always in Upload Audio), the style you picked on the slider is used. It's shown under the prompt, for example Style: Intense (Pulse), from the slider. • If you use a cover image with an empty prompt, you'll be asked if you want to add one. Click Generate Anyway to let the AI interpret the image on its own. • Click Generate Canvas, 1 credit. Getting back: • Back to simple mode returns to the slider. If you picked a different idea, simple mode uses it. If you edited the prompt, your edits are kept. • Back to Concepts returns to the idea list. • Cancel (or Esc) on the idea list asks you to confirm, because your analysis will be lost. Cover Image mode has no idea list, so Advanced: describe the scene yourself goes straight to the prompt box.

Question 47

While your canvas is generating

Accepted Answer

After you click Generate, 1 AI credit is used and your balance updates right away. In the Live Preview you'll see a live timer and an estimate of how long it usually takes with the AI model we're currently using (typically a few minutes). The panel shows your song details, the animation style and the prompt being used. For songs, it also shows fun facts about your track (genres, instruments, mood, energy, tempo and more) that you can flip through with Back and Next. The animation style shows the slider name with its Advanced-mode name in brackets: Calm (Still Life), Cinematic (Raw Cinema), Dreamy (Lucid Dream) or Intense (Pulse). You don't have to wait on this screen. After about 10 seconds a window appears: • Email me when it's ready: on by default. Leave it on and we'll email you when your canvas is done. • Continue in Background: keep using the editor while the video is made. When it's ready you'll see Your AI Canvas is ready! with an Open Canvas button. • Keep Waiting: stay on this screen. If you switch to another editor tab during generation, you're also offered to continue in the background. Taking longer than usual? If the AI is busier than normal, you'll see a note saying your canvas is still being made and nothing is wrong, with a Continue in background and email me button. Refreshed the page? AI Canvas picks the job back up if you return within 10 minutes. Jobs running in the background are always picked back up. Either way, the next article explains how your canvas is never lost.

Question 48

Cancelling, or leaving the page while it generates

Accepted Answer

Cancel & Start New (on the generating screen) stops your canvas. You'll be asked to confirm with Yes, start over or Keep waiting. If you cancel, your AI credit is returned automatically. The Start New button at the top of the editor does not cancel. Your canvas keeps being made, and it's saved for you as described below. Closed the tab, locked your phone or lost connection? Your canvas keeps being made on our servers. About 3 minutes after it's ready, we save it to your history and email you a View Your Canvas link, even if you turned the email option off. If a generation fails or gets lost on the AI server, your credit is returned to your account automatically. You don't need to contact us.

Question 49

When your canvas is ready

Accepted Answer

You'll see Your canvas is ready! and the video starts playing in the Live Preview. A short message shows 1 AI credit used and how many you have left. • Download Raw MP4: saves the AI video to your device, named after your song. • Re-Generate: takes you back to the screen you generated from (simple or advanced) so you can try again. Each new generation costs 1 AI credit. • New Canvas: starts over with a new song or image. Rate it: tell us if it looks Great, Okay or Poor. If you choose Poor, you can write what went wrong (or click Skip). This helps us improve AI Canvas. Keep editing: on a computer, scroll down to add filters, effects and other adjustments before exporting, just like any other canvas. On a phone, tap Edit in Studio. Saved automatically: every AI canvas is saved to your history in the Canvas Studio. On Pro, use the AI Canvas filter in your history to find them. On other plans, your AI canvases are listed under Your AI canvases in the History tab, where you can download them anytime.

Question 50

Using AI Canvas on your phone

Accepted Answer

AI Canvas works on phones and tablets with the same steps: pick a tab, analyze, choose a style and generate. A few differences on smaller screens: • The Live Preview appears below AI Canvas instead of on the right. • To edit your AI canvas (filters, effects and so on), tap Edit in Studio. • You can lock your phone or switch apps while it generates. Your canvas is still saved to your history and emailed to you.

Question 51

What do I get?

Accepted Answer

An 8-second, vertical 9:16 MP4 video at 720p, the format Spotify accepts for Canvas. The video has continuous, visible motion (never a still image) and no on-screen text.

Question 52

How many credits does it cost?

Accepted Answer

Each generation costs 1 AI credit. Analyzing a song is free. The Generate button always shows the cost before you click. Your balance is shown at the top of AI Canvas: • Free, trial and Pro: Available shows the credits you can use now, next to your Plan. You'll also see buttons to Upgrade to Pro Plus or Buy Credits. • Pro Plus: Available and Monthly (refills each billing cycle). Purchased (never expire) and Bonus appear when you have any. If you're down to 3 credits or fewer, a reminder with Buy More appears. Which credits are used first: monthly credits, then bonus credits, then purchased credits. If you run out, a window offers Buy Credit Pack. If you're not on Pro Plus yet, it also offers Upgrade to Pro Plus (10 credits a month). If a generation fails, gets lost or you cancel it, your credit is returned automatically. Returned credits never expire. Payments for AI credits are not refundable in money. See AI credits (AI Canvas) under Plans, Trials & Credits for prices and all the ways to get credits.

Question 53

"The AI safety filter blocked this generation"

Accepted Answer

The AI video model has a built-in safety filter. It can block prompts or images with faces, people, copyrighted characters or sensitive imagery. This is a limit of the AI model, not something MakeCanvas controls. No credit is used when this happens. You'll see these options: • Retry without cover art (when you used an image): the AI creates visuals from the music analysis alone. • Edit prompt & retry: opens the prompt so you can describe abstract visuals, landscapes or objects instead. • Contact Support: if you're stuck.

Question 54

Why does my video never show text?

Accepted Answer

By design, AI Canvas videos never include on-screen text: no titles, artist names or captions. Your song title, artist and album names are removed before anything is sent to the video model. Spotify Canvas videos are meant to be purely visual, and text written by AI video models usually looks garbled anyway.

Question 55

Will I get the same video every time?

Accepted Answer

No. Every generation is unique, even with the same song, style and prompt. If you don't love the result, click Re-Generate to try again, choose a different style on the slider, or open Advanced and pick another idea.

Question 56

Tips for the best result

Accepted Answer

• Match the slider to the song. Calm or Dreamy for ballads and ambient tracks, Intense for high-energy tracks, Cinematic when you're not sure. • Avoid faces in cover images. They're the most common reason for a safety block. • Brand-new release? If the Spotify link can't be found yet, use Upload Audio with the MP3. • Want something specific? Use Advanced and add it to the prompt, for example "slow rain on a window, neon reflections". • Don't sit and wait. Choose Continue in Background and keep working, or even close the page. We'll email you when it's ready.

Question 57

Export failed or stuck

Accepted Answer

If the progress bar stalls or the export errors out: Refresh the page and try again — most stalls are transient. Confirm your source file is within the upload size limit shown in the upload area. If you're using a long video, run it through the Video Trimmer first. Switch browsers — Chrome and Edge are the most reliable. If it still fails, email info@makecanvas.me with the source file name and roughly when it happened, and we can look up the server logs.

Question 58

Can't sign in

Accepted Answer

Sign-in is handled by Clerk. If you get stuck on the sign-in modal: • Disable any browser extensions blocking third-party cookies. • Try an Incognito/Private window. • Check the email/password you used at signup. You can also use Google or Apple sign-in. If you signed up via Google and try to sign in via password (or vice versa), you'll be asked to use the original method.

Question 59

Spotify rejected my canvas

Accepted Answer

Spotify validates the file spec on upload. If your canvas is rejected: • Make sure you're using the file MakeCanvas exported, not a re-encoded copy. • Confirm the duration is between 3 and 8 seconds (Spotify's published Canvas spec). • Try uploading from a desktop browser instead of mobile. If Spotify still rejects it, re-export from MakeCanvas and try again, or contact support.

Question 60

Browser compatibility

Accepted Answer

MakeCanvas works in the latest versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari. The in-browser Video Trimmer uses WebAssembly, so an up-to-date browser is required for that step. Mobile browsers can be used to start a project but desktop is recommended for exporting.

Question 61

You own your content

Accepted Answer

You retain full ownership of any media you upload. We do not claim rights to your photos, videos, or exported canvases. We only ask for a limited license to store and process your content for the purpose of running the service (e.g. cloud history for Pro users).

Question 62

Where your files live

Accepted Answer

Source uploads are processed in memory on our render server and either streamed directly back to your browser (Free) or stored privately in our Cloudflare R2 bucket (Pro, for history). R2 storage is encrypted at rest and only accessible to your authenticated account.

Question 63

Privacy Policy

Accepted Answer

Full detail of what we collect, how long we keep it, and your rights under GDPR/CCPA is in the Privacy Policy.
