1. Canvas only plays in the mobile app

Canvas is designed for the Spotify mobile app on iOS and Android, in the full screen Now Playing view. If you are checking on the desktop app or the web player, you may simply not see it there. Before anything else, open the track on a phone and tap the Now Playing bar so the player fills the screen.

2. The Canvas setting is off

Listeners can disable Canvas entirely. In the Spotify mobile app, open Settings, find the playback options, and check that the Canvas toggle is on. If it is off, every track shows static artwork, including yours.

3. Data Saver mode is blocking it

Spotify's Data Saver mode reduces data usage, and short looping videos are one of the first things to go. If Data Saver is on, Canvas may not load. Turn it off in the app settings, or test again on Wi-Fi.

5. The file was off spec

If the upload itself failed or was rejected, the track never had a Canvas to show. The file must be a vertical 9:16 MP4 or JPG, 3 to 8 seconds long, 720px to 1080px tall, with no audio. 6. The app is outdated

Old versions of the Spotify app can fail to show Canvas even when everything else is right. Update Spotify in the App Store or Google Play, then check the track again.

7. Force a refresh

Close the Spotify app fully and reopen it, or log out and back in. The app caches what it shows in Now Playing, and a restart forces it to fetch the current Canvas. If the Canvas shows on another phone but not yours, the cause is local to your device or settings, not the upload.
